i trace the rainbow through the rain...

My Daddy, Eston Willis, was a wonderful Bible teacher. One year he led a small Bible study in our home. Each week, we would gather, open in prayer, open our Bibles, and he would begin by quoting the same Scripture, Romans 8:1, at least seven times before we began...
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Something about the repetition of those God-breathed words moved God’s Truth from my head to my heart. The eighth chapter of Romans begins with “no condemnation” and ends with “no separation”… For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord—Romans 8:38-39

The verdict is final.
The case is never going to be re-tried—irrevocable. On that we can rest—we are accepted on the basis of the finished work of Jesus Christ on the Cross.

Take a few minutes
to enjoy this beautiful rendition of the classic hymn by George Mattheson, O Love That Will Not Let Me Go...
O Love that will not let me go
I rest my weary soul in Thee
I give Thee back the life I owe
That in Thine ocean depths its flow
May richer, fuller be
O Love, that will not let me go.
O Joy, that seekest me through pain
I cannot close my heart to Thee
I trace the rainbow through the rain
And feel the promise is not vain
That morn shall tearless be
O Love, that will not let me go.

O Cross, that liftest up my head
I dare not ask to fly from Thee
I lay in dust life's glory dead
And from the ground there blossoms red
Life that shall endless be
O Love, that will not let me go.

O Love, that will not let me go.

I LOVE that hymn and the words too....sad many hymns not sung much cos they are full of GREAT truths.....
How wonderful to have a bible-teaching Dad....I did too...and have many fond memories of going out to tiny country churches on a Sunday avo where the local farming families met...I would pump out the hymns on old pedal organs and Dad would preach...very special memories, those !!

    1. Mary, I appreciate you sharing your heart with me more than you will ever know! You are such a sweet encourager! Your memories of your Daddy are precious, reminding me of how my Daddy felt called to preach but felt he couldn't afford to give up his secular job, so he taught Sunday School to adults so passionately, and he led many co-workers and customers to the Lord in his workplace. Precious memories <3

  2. Thank you for the reminder and encouragement! That's wonderful that your Dad was such a leader. I didn't always have that growing up (my dad was not consistent) but was thankful for the Godly teachers I did have.

  3. For sure, Beth. More often than not we need to hear the same truths over and over. From Scripture, in our worship songs, from those who teach us. For our minds are cluttered with too many things that would push His powerful words aside.

But He will not be hindered! His truth will be made known!

Blessings to you as we come to the end of this summer season, my friend ...

Hi, Beth. I believe encouragement is what we all need. When it is lacking, it's too easy to turn away from things you should be doing or accomplishing.

  5. I so like this: 'The verdict is final. The case is never going to be re-tried—irrevocable. On that we can rest—we are accepted on the basis of the finished work of Jesus Christ on the Cross." Yes! Praise God! A promise to which to cling tightly!!! God continue to bless you richly!

  6. Amazing how we all need repetition for something to sink in. I love that that stuck with you from childhood! It reminds me that the things I want my children to learn most I must say over and over.
